Please contact the Specialty Living Community of your choice directly to arrange for a tour and enjoy a complimentary lunch, to sample the tasty menu and experience the charm of our full-service dining room. You will also have the opportunity to meet with one of the knowledgeable, friendly staff, to discuss how our services may be able to enhance your retirement living plans. If you live nearby, we can also visit you in your own home to discuss our services.

Next steps: what you need to know

Once you've toured the community and determined that it suits your retirement lifestyle needs, you may wish to ask for a complete information package, including a description of services and fees. A medical assessment will be included, which should be completed by your own physician before you move in, so that we can ensure that any health conditions can be supported.

Our retirement communities typically have a waiting list for specific suites. If you are not ready to move in at that time, we will simply keep your name on the waiting list and call you when a future suite is available. If you wish to reserve the next available suite of your choice, you will be asked to leave a returnable deposit. While you are waiting for an available suite, we invite you to visit the community as often as you wish, and to join in any of the social or educational events. If requested, we will send you the calendar of events each month.

Moving day: family, friends and Specialty Living can help

Moving often brings a feeling of anticipation. Specialty Living staff realize that things can become somewhat overwhelming on moving day, so we try to take everything at a leisurely pace. You may wish to have your family move everything in before you arrive, or personally direct where all your personal belongings will be placed. It's your choice. The staff are available to assist you as needed, to help you make a smooth transition during the first weeks.

Welcome to your new home

You will be given a key to your suite, and welcomed by each of our managers over the first few days. Family and friends are welcome anytime. As staff get to know your interests and preferences, we will be able to offer suggestions to help you connect with your neighbours and enjoy a leisure program. Each month, you will receive an itemized statement of the monthly fees, and any additional discretionary costs that you have, such as hairdressing or massage. All costs will be fully explained to you, so that you can plan your monthly expenses easily. We hope to meet or exceed your expectations for retirement living, and encourage you to share your suggestions for improving the services offered in the retirement community that you choose.
