At Specialty Care, we consider our Volunteers to be a vital part of our care team, with meaningful responsibilities that reflect professional respect and offer growth opportunities. Resident-focused in every respect, our Volunteer Program offers a wide range of volunteering options for people of all ages and interests.

Volunteering: many benefits for residents and volunteers

Residents and Volunteers alike benefit from the volunteer relationship. Our Volunteers add to the quality of life of each resident, and help create a broader community of caring within our homes. An important role of our Volunteer Services is to help us remain responsive to the cultural and language preferences of residents, and to help residents maintain strong links to their respective communities. In turn, our Volunteers receive orientation, training and ongoing support from Volunteer Co-ordinators, and have the opportunity to make new friends and stretch their interests through new experiences, skills and challenges.

Flexibility: assignments to suit most interests and schedules

Most Volunteers commit to an ongoing number of hours per week or per month, and often create their own positions based on their interests and talents. Others find volunteering an excellent way to brush up on job skills before returning to the workforce, and commit to a short-term placement instead. We also encourage high-school and college students on co-op programs to consider us for their work experience placements.
