alt Paula Jourdain, MSW, MBA
Chief Executive Officer

Paula joined Specialty Care in 1986 and has led the transformation of the company from four small rural homes to today’s vibrant organization. Paula uses her extensive experience in long-term care management, facility development, government relations and financial management, combined with her MSW and MBA education, to bring dynamic leadership to board of directors and the company. As CEO, Paula concentrates most of her time on long range planning.

President

Lois leads the Specialty Care team in the management and development of the company's long term care, retirement and management services. With more than 20 years of experience in senior management and consulting roles with various health care organizations, Lois has shaped and defined many of the systems that make Specialty Care unique, improving both organizational performance and the quality of care and services. Lois is a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Long-term Care Association. She is a certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives, and has a Masters of Health Science from the University of Toronto.

Executive Vice President Building Development

Ray is responsible for all Specialty Care construction and development activities and the ongoing property management of the existing residences. Ray has introduced state-of-the-art safety, security and communication systems as well as energy management systems, to ensure Specialty Care communities meet the changing needs of residents. Prior to joining Specialty Care in 1992, Ray had 10 years building, development, property management and operational maintenance experience with two of the leading residential and commercial development companies in Toronto.

Chief Operating Officer

Debbie supports Specialty Care’s vision by aligning operations with corporate strategy, and applying her strong execution, coaching and coordination skills. Debbie has held numerous leadership positions in retirement and long term care homes, including administrator, nurse consultant, and vice president of operations. She has implemented efficient operational and service standards that have resulted in high levels of staff and resident satisfaction, increased occupancy, and improved cost-efficiencies. Debbie has served as President of the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) and continues to volunteer in several capacities with the Association. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Administration, and a Long Term Care Organization Management designation, from the University of Toronto and Ottawa.

Chief Financial Officer

Fern is a chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in accounting and finance in both the long term care and retirement sectors, and across a range of corporate, multi-site and individual facility financial systems. Fern has applied her expertise in the development of highly sophisticated budgeting, financial variance analysis, and benchmarking systems. These systems form the foundation of Specialty Care’s strong financial management processes.
